Nylons can complete lingerie, clubwear and fetish outfits with a sheer, patterned or deliberately bold finish. The category includes hold-up stockings, classic stocking styles and ouvert tights. Each type sits differently on the legs and hips, so size, cut and waistband construction matter as much as colour.
Use the size chart and fabric information for the specific product. Hosiery measurements are not identical across every brand, and a familiar clothing size does not always predict the same fit in a highly elastic or patterned design.
Understand the main hosiery styles
Hold-up stockings use an elastic or grip band at the thigh and are designed to be worn without suspenders. Traditional stockings may be intended for a suspender belt. Tights cover the hips and waist, while ouvert or open-crotch tights leave an opening as part of the cut. Check the description rather than assuming from the product image.

Follow the care label. Delicate hosiery is usually best protected from rough zips, hooks and abrasive fabrics during washing. If hand washing is recommended, use mild detergent, avoid wringing and let the garment dry away from direct heat.
Store each pair folded or in a small pouch so hooks and jewellery cannot snag it. Inspect the toes, seams, crotch and tops before wearing. A small care routine helps preserve elasticity, pattern and fit. Keep different colours separated if the care label warns that dyes may transfer.
